When Lee joined Stephanie’s school in Grade 5, a friendship began that would quietly carry us through growing up, university in different countries, and all the changes in between.

Six years of dating later, that friendship remains the loveliest part of us. The joy of being loved by someone who has watched you become yourself.

Only later did we discover that our families had been part of each other’s lives for generations. It moves us to think that, while we were finding our way to each other, our story already had roots.

Now, we get to make a life of our own. As we gather for our Ngurario, we do so with full hearts: grateful for everyone who came before us, everyone beside us, and a lifetime still to share.
